KITCHEN OF THE MONTH

DECEMBER 2021 WINNER

Bowling Green, KY

Kight Kitchen & Design Center

Objective

This was a turn-key remodel from start to finish. There was nothing done on this job that we did not provide, including cabinets, tops, hardwood, plumbing, electric, stairs, exterior front door, and two back french doors. This house belongs to the Mayor of Bowling Green, who asked if we could update his late 1990s home while keeping the character intact so it still looks like it was meant to be. By rearranging the kitchen, removing the dated items, and using classic materials, I feel we knocked it out of the park. Mayor Alcott and his wife are overjoyed with the results.

Features

Inset doors and inset deco end panels to match. Built-in refrigerator that has been recessed into the pantry behind to give more room in the kitchen area. The wall and base cabinets wrap around the corner in one piece giving a true custom look. The upper glass cabinets have custom glass shelving that also wraps the corner in one piece. Cabinets go the the ceiling and surround two islands. The middle island is a working island with microwave drawer, pull-out trash, and pull-out spice cabinets. The second island is a dual sitting area with octagon glass open display area on one end and wine cooler beverage center on the other end. Large drawers and a mixer lift help make this unique island functional and eye catching. The lighting in this kitchen is amazing with under-cabinet, inside-cabinet, and even toe-kick lighting throughout the kitchen, all dimmable or color changeable for the perfect mood. The kitchen tops are Cambria Portrush on the perimeter and the same on the center island, only made 6 cm thick for a bulky look. The large center island is a custom wood top we made out of the left over mahogany and ash hardwood that was used on the dining room floor. The center piece in the island is a raised copper plate to set hot items on if needed, which compliments the custom copper hood and apron front sink. There is just to much to list on this project and is one you just need to see to believe.
