CDL A/B Drivers

A Carter Lumber Delivery Specialist with CDL is responsible for transporting and dropping off materials while providing professional customer service to contractors and do-it-yourselfers. This is accomplished by appropriately using company vehicles and equipment to deliver products to customers in a safe and timely manner. Safety, building loads, inventory control and product knowledge are all components of this position.

Yard Specialist/

Forklift Operator

A Carter Lumber Yard Specialist is responsible for providing professional customer service to contractors and do-it-yourselfers by loading customers, building loads and assisting with maintenance of an efficient and clean lumber yard. This is accomplished by assisting customers in selecting and loading items they have purchased along with gathering materials to be delivered. Inventory control, product knowledge and organization skills are all components of this position.

Truss Builder

Trusses are the structural components that support roofs and floors in residential home buildings. They are created by connecting lumber with metal plates, and in this position, you would be responsible for building these components. To begin each day, you will complete a start-up checklist to make sure all the equipment in your area is ready for building. A computer at your workstation will provide you with all the information you need to build the truss. Based on the design, you and your team will set up a framework on the building table, within which the truss will take shape. Then, you will place each piece of lumber in the appropriate position and join them with metal plates. Once all plates have been put in place, you will use a large roller to flatten the plates and merge them with the lumber. After a quality check to ensure there are no mistakes, you’ll move on to your next truss.

Door Assembler

A Door Line Assembler is responsible for assembling doors accurately to ensure a quality product is produced. Under minimal supervision, you will review each work order and ensure proper materials are available. You will then set up the necessary equipment and material to assemble the doors according to the design provided. This includes cutting components accurately, hinge and lockset prep, and cutting and fastenings jambs, stops, and casings. Various assembly machinery is used as well as power, air and hand tools. The goal is to complete orders accurately and according to schedule.
